Green biomass heat
In 2005 a report commissioned by The Carbon Trust (Biomass Sector Review) concluded that “Using biomass for heating via combustion gives the most cost effective carbon savings of all the technologies currently available.”
At EGNISCO, we believe that for biomass installations to deliver the optimum levels of carbon saving at the most competitive costs, fuel supply needs to be sourced as close as possible to the heat demand. Wood is a bulky fuel which is both difficult and expensive to move around. It therefore makes sense to reduce to the minimum the distance which wood is transported to be processed and delivered.
EGNISCO is working with farmers, woodland owners and foresters to source new supplies of fuel from Welsh forestry, not previously actively managed. This initiative creates local employment, improves the local environment and ecological diversity through brining neglected woodland into management and generates extra revenue for woodland owners from sustainable activity.
EGNISCO believes that local fuel which satisfies local heat need, delivers benefits to both the local economy and the local environment.
